Low Calorie Makhani Dal


1. Black Urad- 1cup
2. Rajma – 1/2 cup
3. Chana Dal- 1/4 cup
4. Chopped Ginger- 2 tsp
5.Salt to taste.
6. Oil -2 tsp
7. Chopped Onion- 1
8.Chopped Tomatoes- 2
9. Chilly pwd- 1tsp
10. Garam Masala – 1/2 tsp
11. Mustard- 1/2 tsp
12. Jeera -1/2 tsp
13. Butter- 1 tsp
14. Coriander for Garnish.
15. Green chilli – 3
16. Beaten fresh cream- 1 Tbsp

How to make Low Calorie Makhani Dal:
  • Soak Over night Rajma, chana dal and Whole urad seperately.
  • Cook Rajma for 2 whistles, then add the black urad and chopped ginger and green chilly and cook it till Rajma becomes soft. It would require 3-4 whistles.
  • Cook the chana dal seperately till done, to this add 1 tbsp of the cooked rajma, urad mixture and grind it to a paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add mustard/jeera, once done, add the onions and fry till brown, then add tomatoes and fry till the oil leaves the pan.
  • To this add, the cooked rajma, urad and the ground paste, and let it to boil well.
  • The ground paste will give the dal a uniform consistency. Add the salt, chilly pwd and garam masala to it.
  • Once it done, add the cream and let it simmer for 10 min on a low flame
  • Add the butter on the top, garnish it with coriander and serve.
