Bagara Rice

Rice is added to fried onion, tomatoes, green chillies with whole hot spices and boiled with water. Learn how to make Bagara Rice.


2 cups Rice
3 big onions
8 to 10 green chillies
1 bundle corriander leaves
12 to 15 mint leaves
6 chopped tomatoes
1 1/2 level tsp. ginger garlic paste
Salt to taste
1/4 cup oil
7 cups water
4 cinnammon
8 to 10 cloves
8 cardamom
few curry leaves


How to make Bagara Rice:
  • Fry the onions till golden brown add the green chillies, cloves, cinnammon, cardamom, curry leaves, mint leaves, ginger/garlic paste and fry on low heat till the raw smell goes.
  • Add tomatoes and fry nicely, then add the rice and fry for few minutes, add the salt to taste, 7 cups of water and bring to boil, then lower flame cover and cook for 8-10 mins till rice is done.
  • If you are using in rice cooker, add the washed rice in the bucket, add the fried ingredients to the rice in cooker bucket, add the 7 cups of water, cover, plug it on and allow to cook, it will automatically switch off once the rice is done.
