Chana Ni Dal Ma Gosht

Learn how to make chana ni dal ma gosht recipe. In this recipe any kind of meat is cooked with chana dal and spiced with dhanajeera, cummin powder garlic paste.


2 1/2 lb any meat. cut into pieces
3 large finely sliced onions
10 ozs chana dal, yellow, wash and soak in
cold water at least 2 hrs
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
2 tsp dhanajeera
2 tsp salt
1 tsp turmeric
1 1/2 tsp cummin powder
2 tsp heaped sambhar
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp ginger paste
2 tomatoes
1/2 bunch coriander
3 slited green chillies
3 raw green mangoes, in season


How to make Chana Ni Dal Ma Gosht:
  • Fry the sliced onions till golden brown.
  • Add in all the spices and cook gently for a few minutes.
  • Add in the pieces of meat, cook, stirring occasionally, then the chopped tomatoes.
  • Mix in the dal, draining off the water it has been soaked in, and stir so that the meat, masala and dal are well mixed.
  • Add sliced mangoes and chillies.
  • Put enough water to let the dal and meat cook, cover and place in the oven on 350 degrees for approx 1 1/2 hours or till it is all cooked.
  • Before serving add lemon juice, if mangoes are not available, and chopped coriander.
  • Serve with Kuchumbar and hot rotlies.
