Kamal Kadki Kofta

For Koftas
1/2 kg Lotus Stems (Kamal Kakdi)
3 tsp Besan
Salt to Taste
1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
For Curry :
3 tsp oil 1 medium Onion chopped finley
1 Tomato chopped
1 tsp each Ginger and Garlic Paste
4 Green Chillies chopped
2 cups Water
1 tblsp Fresh Cream
Few sprigs Coriander leaves
1 tsp Garam Masala powder


How to make Kamal Kadki Kofta:
  • To Make Koftas
    • Wash, peel and grate the lotus stems and then squeeze out the grated lotus stems to remove the water content.
    • In a bowl mix all the ingredients of the koftas. Ensure that the dough is not watery.
    • Now take a small amount of the mixture in your hand and make a small ball of the dough.
    • Make balls similarly with all the dough.
    • In a wok heat oil for deep frying and fry all the balls till golden.
    • Keep these fried koftas aside.
  • To Make Curry
    • In a pan heat the oil for the curry and saute onions till light brown.
    • Now add chopped tomatoes & green chilies and cook till the tomatoes get tender.
    • When done take out this paste and let it cool. Then grind this mixture to a paste.
    • Put this mixture back to the pan and add ginger garlic paste and fry for 5 min.
    • Add 2 cups of water to the mixture and bring it to a boil for about 10 min or till the curry thickens.
    • Add the koftas only when you have to serve and then give the curry boil for 1 min.
    • Garnish with little cream and corinaer leaves.
