Palak Makkai Malai

Ingredients:

1/4 tsp clove cinnamon (dalchini) powder
2 tblsp green moong dal
1″ piece ginger (adrak) grated
salt (namak) to taste
1 small onion (pyaj)
1/2 tsp turmeric (haldi) powder
3 green chillies cut
3 tblsp ghee
1/2 cup corn kernel (makai) boiled
1/2 tsp red chilli (lal mirch) powder
1/4 tsp punjabi garam masala
1/2 tsp amchur powder
1/3 cup cream (malai)
1 bunch spinach (palak) chopped

How to make Palak Makkai Malai:
  • Wash moong dal.
  • Wash and remove spinach.
  • Pressure stir fry everything the following, with 1 1/2 cup water, spinach, dal, turmeric powder, clove-cinnamon powder, onion, ginger, chillies.
  • When dal is soft, mash mixture with a fork or ladle.
  • Heat up 2 tblsp ghee, mix in corn, spinach mixture, salt, amchur, garam masala.
  • Stir and fry till thick.
  • Stir in beaten cream.
  • Stir till smooth.
  • Heat up remaining ghee, mix in chilli powder and pour out over the vegetable.
  • Stir and serve hot.
